The Amish
'thou shalt not make graven images'
The following photos were taken over a period of a year in Pennsylvania, New York State, Ohio and Indiana. The Amish exist as a distinct American subculture, with non conformity in dress, homes, speech, attitudes toward education, and resistance to modernisation and change. This includes a very strong disapproval of having photos taken - backed up by the second commandment in the Bible 'thou shalt not make graven images.'
I hope that this collection of images respects their wish not to be photographed, but equally allows others to see an intimate portrait of the Amish and their way of life.
Images and audio interviews of a cafe in historic town Oxford.
Portraits taken from film shoots of those infron of the camera.
My Space
Full length portraits taken in varying locations around the world. Equally giving the space we find ourselves an importance to who we become.
